We sent questionnaires to all mayoral and council candidates, asking them about their views and knowledge on housing policy. Based on their responses, our membership identified which candidates best align with our values of building an affordable, inclusive, and sustainable Seattle for everyone.
Explanations for endorsements are below.
Katie Wilson has a deep understanding of Seattle's housing policy and how to improve it. Her platform embraces an 'all of the above' approach to creating an abundant supply of housing - including market-rate housing, subsidized affordable housing, social housing, emergency shelters, and transitional housing with wraparound services.
We were impressed that both candidates included very pro-housing messaging in their responses, demonstrating how far our movement has come. However, it is well documented that Bruce Harrell delayed Seattle's growth plan by over a year and ordered it to be watered down at the demands of anti-housing activists. Our City cannot afford four more years of tepid responses to its greatest challenges.
We received responses to our endorsement questionnaire from the following candidates: Katie Wilson, Bruce Harrell, and Joe Molloy

Council District 2
While both candidates expressed support for a pro-housing agenda, Eddie Lin stood out with more detailed responses and concrete, actionable ideas. His depth of knowledge shows he has been engaging with affordability solutions for some time, and he demonstrates a clear readiness to act swiftly on housing in his first term.

Alexis Mercedes Rinck is a proven housing champion. Only one year in, she's fought hard to increase the supply of housing in Seattle's growth plan, remove unnecessary red tape like parking requirements, and relax regulations for affordable housing.
