Chapter Lead
Vanessa is a former Astrophysics researcher and Physics PhD turned housing advocate. While initially motivated by the environmental benefits of dense cities, such as lower per capita greenhouse gas emissions and mitigation of sprawl, she soon realized how housing policy connects to many pressing social issues, ranging from homelessness to our alarmingly increasing wealth gap. Her journey into housing advocacy started in 2020 when she became a chapter lead with Urban Environmentalists. In 2022, she became one of the founding members of Seattle YIMBY. Vanessa lives car-free in an apartment in the beautiful Greenwood neighborhood. In her free time she enjoys going outside and exploring PNW's unique Nature.
